Connie Francis, a City Council member appointed in May 2022 and elected for a term commencing January 2023, serves as the Council Liaison with the Planning Commission and Maple Plain Fire Department Relief Association. Additionally, Francis serves as a City representative on the Highway 12 Safety Coalition and West Hennepin Chamber of Commerce. Francis brings a broad educational background to the City, receiving a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting from Augsburg University and a Master's Degree in Leadership from Augsburg University.
With a lifelong connection to Maple Plain, having attended Maple Plain Elementary and growing up in the surrounding area, Francis considers Maple Plain her hometown. Once the opportunity arose, she returned to her hometown to raise her daughter, surrounded by familiar faces. She has resided in Maple Plain for over 20 years. Francis demonstrates a commitment to the community by being actively involved with the American Legion Auxiliary, encouraging more participation to sustain support for deserving Veterans.
Connie Francis is a strong advocate for community engagement. She believes that collaboration among residents fosters a stronger, more cohesive City. Driven by her ethics, integrity, and transparency beliefs, Francis values open discussions with residents to understand different perspectives and explain her opinion and the Council's intentions. This emphasis on community engagement makes every resident feel included and important in decision-making.
Looking forward, Connie Francis has clear priorities. She aims to revitalize the downtown area and establish essential services within the city limits to attract new residents. She also seeks to address fire services by consolidating with another local department or reimagining our current department's structure. Rest assured, whatever direction is taken, Francis's unwavering focus on the best interest of Maple Plain residents and surrounding communities ensures that every voice is heard and valued.
