Absentee voting means voting by mail or in person before Election Day, instead of at the polling place. Absentee ballots are available 46 days before an election. Any eligible voter may choose to vote by absentee ballot for any reason.
1. Absentee Voting by Mail (9/20/24-11/4/24)
All absentee voters must complete an absentee ballot application. Fill out an online application, print a paper application, or call Hennepin County Elections at 612-348-5151 to have an application sent to you by mail. Return your application as early as possible by any of the following methods.
An absentee ballot will be mailed to you within two business days within the voting cycle. The absentee ballot will contain voting instructions and a return envelope. Be sure to follow the absentee instructions very carefully and return the ballot as soon as possible.
