No. After joining the department, recruits will be trained in Firefighter 1 & 2, HazMat Awareness, and Emergency Medical Responder/Technician (EMR/EMT). For the first year of employment, firefighters will be under a probationary period where they will learn how to become a Maple Plain firefighter with an assigned FTO.
On average, the Maple Plain Fire Department responds to 250-350 calls per year. MPFD responds to fire calls as well as medical/rescue emergencies so call volumes vary drastically depending on multiple factors.
