  • We would like to welcome Shirley Slater-Schulte to the City of Maple Plain! Shirley will be serving as the Interim City Administrator while the City conducts its full-time administrator search. Residents are welcome to visit City Hall to meet Shirley and say hello!
  • Clarissa Hadler's last day serving as the City Administrator for the City of Maple Plain will be Tuesday, May 2nd. We would like to thank Clarissa for all of the hard work and dedication that she showed during her tenure with the City. Thank you, Clarissa, for helping make Maple Plain a better community!
  • The Rainbow Park swing set is being replaced on Monday, May 1st. The swing set will remain closed until the concrete sets and is deemed safe for use. Please visit the City's Facebook page (link at the bottom of the Leaflet) for updates on when the swing set is opened once again. Thank you for your patience with this process!
  • The Maple Plain Fire Department officially hired Adam Rubin as a probationary firefighter on April 24, 2023. Welcome to the Maple Plain Fire Department Adam, and thank you for your commitment to the safety of our community!
  • Street sweepers will be cleaning City streets starting on Monday, May 1st and will continue throughout the week. Residents are encouraged to not park on City streets when possible during this time to ensure that the street sweepers have access to the entire width of the street.
  • A Maple Plain tree planting volunteer event will be taking place on Thursday, May 18th and Saturday, May 20th. This project will result in 18 new trees for our community, located at Veterans Memorial Park and Rainbow Park. Please contact Grant MacFarlane (grant@mapleplain.com / 763-479-0555) if you are interested in volunteering for this event!

  • Hydrant flushing took place during the week of April 24th. Hydrant flushing is an important process that enables our City facilities to function properly and in their best condition. For more information on hydrant flushing (and its potential impacts on water color), visit the City's dedicated webpage here.
  • Please keep an eye out for ponding areas this spring as the snow melts and we experience drenching rains. The City is investigating excess sources of rain water entering the sanitary sewer system. The main sign of ponding is an a large area of pooling water that then recedes, but not into a storm sewer inlet. If you notice any ponding areas, please contact the City at 763-479-0515.
  • Join Councilmember Connie Francis at the next Cookies with Council event on Tuesday, June 13th from 4PM - 6PM! Cookies with Council are a perfect time to speak to your representatives one-on-one, so bring your most pressing questions and best ideas to share! This event will be held in the Maple Plain City Council Chambers (5050 Independence Street). Cookies and refreshments will be served!
  • Hennepin County is prepping for an upcoming mill & overlay project on Halgren Rd. south of Highway 12. The project is scheduled to take place later this summer. More information to come!

  • The date for Maple Plain's City-Wide Clean-Up Day has been set for this Spring! This event will be held on Saturday, May 20th from 8 AM - Noon. Bring your items for clean-up to the Maple Plain Public Works building, located at 1645 Pioneer Ave (behind the Maple Plain Fire Department), to participate in this program. Staff will be on hand to assist with heavier items where needed. More information on the 2023 Spring Clean-Up Day can be found on the City's dedicated news post, here.
  • Party in the Park is officially returning to Veterans Memorial Park in 2023 thanks to the Orono Rotary! This free event, held on Saturday, June 3rd from 5 PM - 11 PM, will feature live music, food trucks, and other fun activities. More information can be expected soon!
  • The City of Maple Plain is moving forward with a 2023 Sealcoating Project to improve multiple streets in our community. More details, including a map of the streets to be improved through this project, can be viewed here.
  • The City Council held the Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting on April 18, 2023. Property valuations and classifications were discussed.
  • The City Council discussed snow plowing RFPs and introduced the interim City Administrator during the April 24, 2023 City Council Workshop.
  • The City Council discussed Public Works capital purchases and City Administrator Transition Items during the April 24, 2023 City Council Workshop.
