  • We would like to give a big "Congratulations!" to the West Hennepin Public Safety (WHPS) Department for being ranked as the third safest city in Minnesota for 2023. Each year, Safewise compiles a ranking of the top 20 safest cities in Minnesota and this year we ranked third! This couldn't be done without the phenomenal public safety officers and department that we have. Thank you to all of those that are working so hard to keep our Cities safe every year.
  • The First Responder Softball Game will be taking place on Thursday, September 7th at Veterans Memorial Park from 6 PM - 8 PM (immediately following the Discovery Center's Vehicle Fair). Watch as West Hennepin Public Safety and the Maple Plain Fire Department duel it out for the traveling trophy! Everyone is welcome to attend and cheer on our community's fantastic first responders. We hope to see you there!
  • The City of Maple Plain is hosting a Vietnam Veteran Commemoration Ceremony on Friday, September 8th at 10 AM in partnership with the Vietnam War Commemoration Program. State Representative Dean Phillips will be in attendance to assist with the ceremony. If you served in the Vietnam War, or have a friend/family member that did, you can nominate them to participate in this ceremony by visiting https://phillips.house.gov/vietnam/.   • The next Cookies with Council will be on Monday, September 11th from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM in the City Council Chambers and will have Councilmember Mike DeLuca in attendance. Residents are encouraged to visit City Hall during this time to meet Councilmember DeLuca, ask their City-related questions, or to just enjoy the cookies and refreshments! All are welcome to attend and engage in the conversation during this event!
  • Maple Plain's new City Administrator, Jacob Kolander, will be starting in their new position on Tuesday, September 5th. A Meet & Greet event for Jacob is being held on Monday, September 18th from 4 PM - 6 PM in the City Council Chambers. Residents are welcome to attend the event and get to know our newest Maple Plain Staff member!
  • We recently installed the final bench as part of the Hennepin County Active Living Grant which was awarded to the City of Maple Plain in 2022. This bench was placed on Baker Park Road near Haven Homes. A total of 6 benches were installed across the following locations: Veterans Memorial Park, Oak Street, Howard Avenue, Gateway Blvd, and Baker Park Road. Thank you to our fantastic Public Works staff for their hard work pouring the concrete and securing the benches in place!
  • Thank you to every neighborhood and individual that partook in this year's Night to Unite event! The Maple Plain community is better, safer, and more enjoyable when we all come together and celebrate with one another.
  • Art in the Park will be returning to Veterans Memorial Park on Thursday, September 28th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. This event, put on by Orono Community Education, is a fantastic get-together with free art activities and music! We hope to see you there!
  • The Maple Plain Fire Department will be hosting their Fire Department Open House on Saturday, October 7th from 11 AM - 5 PM. Those attending this event can meeting our local firefighters, take a ride on the firetruck, enjoy fun games, and dine on tasty food! This event will be held at the Maple Plain Fire Department (1645 Pioneer Ave, Maple Plain).
  • The City of Maple Plain is officially accepting nominations for the 2023 Good Neighbor Award. This award is the highest award granted by the Maple Plain City Council to an individual, organization, or business in Maple Plain. This Good Neighbor Awardee is someone that exhibits a lifetime of service and dedication through volunteerism, virtue, civic engagement, and creativity to meet community needs.   • The City Council discussed automatic locks & cameras in community parks, legislative updates, health benefits, and transitional duties during the August 14, 2023 City Council Workshop. More information can be obtained in the packet from this meeting.
