Preparing for Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Grant Program
The City of Maple Plain was awarded the 2022 Emerald Ash Borer Grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This grant was created to assist community in managing ash for emerald ash borer (EAB) on public land. The City of Maple Plain was awarded $25,000 to do accomplish a variety of goal, including removing dead/diseased ash trees and replacing them with new a new diverse tree system. The project is taking place at Veterans Memorial Park and Rainbow Park with a completion deadline of June 28, 2024. UPDATE: The City had nine ash trees removed from Rainbow Park in November of 2022 as the first phase of this project. 18 trees in total will be planted throughout Rainbow and Veterans Memorial Park in response to this removal.
